By default WhatsApp download all images, videos and voice notes to your memory which will create lot of mess in your gallery. Sometimes this may kill your mobile data and battery life when you have a very low data balance on your mobile. I personally find this feature irritating because it fills my Camera Roll with cluttered photos and videos . This feature also makes you concerned about losing your privacy because anyone can access those pictures and videos through your camera roll.
However, WhatsApp has made it quite easy to disable auto-downloading feature. Here’s how to do that.
How to disable auto image download in WhatsApp:
- Open WhatsApp chat screen
- Click on the three vertical dots at the to right of the chat screen and then click “Settings”
- Tap on “Chat Settings”
- Next, Click on “Media Auto-Download”
- From here is you will be presented with three further options to let you decide if you want to download content when you’re just using mobile data, connected to a Wi-Fi network or when Roaming. You now need to open and deselect the Image, Audio and Video check boxes from each Mobile Data, Wi-Fi and Roaming options. Which means you have to make all options to No Media.
